We will ride through the North of Navarre, by the Basque Pyrenees.
The first day, from Pamplona we headed to the Sierra of Urbasa, getting from there to La Sakana Valley.
The second day we surround the Sierra de Aralar from the South, and after passing through Leizaldea we go to the Baztan.
In the third stage - the Queen Stage - we will reach the mountains of Lower Navarre, in the middle of the Pyrenees and by the spectacular Port of Arnostegi we will enter again in Navarra.
In the South side of the Pyrenees BASOAK will down its intensity, and while we cross Villava, like in the Tour of 96, we will turn and pass in front of the house of the five-time Tour winner Miguel Indurain. Once in the old Iruña, if we want we can ride along the route of the San Fermín festival recalling the time trial team in the prologue of the Tour of Spain 2013.
The common denominator of the route will be the forest. That is why BASOAK, -forest- in the language that has been spoken in the area for hundreds of years.

In the village of Etxauri begins the port of the same name, 6.8 kilometers with a slope that remains almost unchanged between 6 and 7% during the whole ascent. The road ascends to the left of the walls of the image.

The day is ending. We are above Alsasua, between the Llanada Alavesa and the Barranca Navarra.
We started the second stage following part of the route of La Vuelta al País Vasco 2015. We entered Gipuzkoa by the Port of Lizarrusti (on this side a simple slope).

If we have chosen the PLUS option, we will have to tighten our teeth in the Gaintza Wall. The wall in question includes a very hard stretch of 1.6 km to 15.3%.

The Baztán towns works as a bridge with the Pyrenean chain. Once crowned the top of Izpegi, the view opens to the North and shows the territory left to come, to pedal.

Hard fight in the 18 kilometers of ascent to the COL of Arnostegi by the "Route of Napoleón". If the "wall" (3kms to 15.3%, 11.5% and 14%) intimidates us, we can take the "slightly less harsh" alternative to climb by Arnegi-Ondarolle, stage 3 of the 4-day option of BASOAK.
High part of Arnostegi among shreds of fog, one of the best weather conditions to raise "cooled" the hard and prolonged slopes of this Pyrenean colossus.
